Dear friends and colleagues,
We are organizing a one-day interdisciplinary workshop, Fighting Disinformation & the Role of AI, on the dual role of artificial intelligence as both a driver of disinformation and a means of countering it, to be held on 24 September 2026 at HEC Lausanne (Villanova), University of Lausanne – UNIL, Switzerland.
Confirmed speakers include Alexandre Bovet (University of Zurich), Touradj Ebrahimi (EPFL), Christian Peukert (HEC Lausanne), Caroline Vuillemin (Fondation Hirondelle), and Kat Morse (Globethics), with further panellists to be announced. Across a keynote, research panels, a young-researchers paper session, and a collaborative Solutions Lab, the day brings together researchers, media professionals, policymakers, tech actors and students. Registration is free, and lunch and refreshments are provided.
More information is available on the workshop website: fightdisinformation.ai
PhD students and post-doctoral researchers are also invited to present their work at the Young Researchers Paper Session: submit a one-page abstract by 19 August 2026 to grandchallenges@unil.ch.
The workshop is organized by the HEC Research Center for Grand Challenges and the Department of Information Systems at HEC Lausanne.
