Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking about this topic at the #FutureFinTech Federated Conference (F3C) in Luxembourg.
Geopolitical crises, from the war in Ukraine to US-China technology tensions, you name them, have made digital sovereignty to a new trend (and sad realisation of governments!). Much of the discussion today is about data control, technological independence, and reducing dependencies.
💡My central message: Digital sovereignty needs to be exercised, stress-tested.
Just as we conduct cybersecurity exercises, we should test digital sovereignty in practice:
🔹 Access: How quickly can a new actor join and start working?
🔹 Dependencies: If we remove one shared tool, which organizations are affected first?
🔹 Fallback: If a critical tool fails, how quickly can we switch to a backup?
Thank you to the organizers for the invitation and the interesting discussions and the great very interdisciplinary event!
